A great modern adaptation of a Dickens classic. It really shows the cyclical nature of abuse. That's probably much more true of this film than it was of the book, but the main takeaway is the way Estelle was raised by Miss Havisham. In America today we are living in a generation full of Estelles. I especially love the tragic ending were Ethan Hawk ends up as a cuckold for a cold hearted, ambivalent woman and raises another man's genetic material. Classic. Check out "the Great Gatsby" while you're at it. Very similar.

I watched this movie as a kid and it always stuck with me. Some acting is off but the passion represented in this movie goes beyond my expectations.

It pulled me in different directions throughout the movie...love, hate, anger...hoping for the best but not expecting it....being a romantic, the end saved me!
