Academy Award┬о nominee Viggo Mortensen and Academy Award┬о winner Mahershala Ali star in Green Book, a film inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class, and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line. When Tony Lip (Mortensen), a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Ali), a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on "The Green Book" to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger as well as unexpected humanity and humorтАФthey are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.

I would have given it three or four if the academy hadn't already blown it way out of any proportion тАж um. OK. At best. Just OK. A script that can't escape from clich├й. God damnit, if you're going to speak Italian in a God damned movie, at least act like you're speaking it тАж stereotypes, stereotypes, stereotypes тАж fried chicken and madonn' pasta with tomato sauce! Come on, Hollywood. And the rest of us. Sorry, if this is the best picture of the year тАж

How did a film about racism (made by white men) win best picture over other films that address race (made by black folks) during BLACK HISTORY MONTH???!!! This film is a white man's pat on his back while standing on other's and I find it appalling that Hollywood keeps getting the discussion regarding race wrong on levels the I can't keep up with because they're so many!

okay movie. good to learn about the life and happenings of people in history. well written and good acting. as someone else mentioned, the academy and award givers blew this one up way too much and boosted my expectations. thought it was going to be some masterpiece. however, it did not disappoint me and was enjoyable to watch.
