About this movie

Two complete strangers agree to a marriage of convenience in "Green Card" - the romantic comedy from director Peter Weir. Georges (Gérard Depardieu) is looking for a Green Card to live and work in the U.S. Brontë (Andie MacDowell) is obsessed with moving into a magical apartment, available only to a married couple. When the marriage is investigated by Immigration, they are thrown into an off-balance intimacy. Against a backdrop of Manhattan rooftops, the driving beat of the New York streets and the lush green house and beautiful apartment - this story of two people falling in love is enriched by a skilful supporting cast. A film of charm and energy, "Green Card" is an irresistible romance that will leave you with a smile on your face. 1990 Touchstone Pictures, Australian Film Finance Corporation.

One of my favourites. Never gets old, never fails to please. Gerard Depardieu and Andie McDowell are wonderful and ooze chemistry. There is also a lot of depth to this rom com which is unusual. Not surprising I guess considering it was written, produced and directed by Peter Weir. Wonderful film.

One of the best of the romantic comedy genre. Charming and heartfelt. The two leads are perfect and the soundtrack is exquisite.
