The Green Lantern extended cut contains 9 additional minutes including an alternate opening that provides more insight into the story that was seen in theaters. In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, an elite, powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. When a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, Hal Jordan . Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal's humanity is one weapon no member of the Corps has ever had, and if--with the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris --Hal can quickly master his new powers, he will save the Earth and all of mankind from certain destruction.

Ratings and reviews

It wasn't awful. Of course I also think the plot is a bit not that good. But there are a lot of bad films out there. This film isn't one of them. So, it's watchable.

I love this film from the bottom of my heart, from Mark Strong as Sinestro to Michael Clark Duncan as Kilwog it gets every character P E R F EC T and I will not accept any other o pinion.

I have ALWAYS loved this movie. Green Lantern was my favorite as a child, so it kills me to hear how people say it's a horrible film. I love the extra-special effects. I wish reynolds would do a sequel.
