Acerca desta película

HACKSAW RIDGE is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss (BAFTA winner and Golden Globe nominee Andrew Garfield) who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honour. Cosmos Filmed Entertainment Pty Ltd 2016

Disappointed with the overall tone of the film. Lacked any grit, empathy or real conviction in placing the viewing amidst a battlefield. Huge overuse of slomo run and gun shots (all of which result in fallen enemies), gung-ho American soldiers and clichéd lines. It had its moments, predominantly in the concept itself, but they were few and far between. 5/10.

I absolutely LOVE this film. I remember the first time I watched it, I was in awe. So I sat there and I watched it again. Straight away. Based on a true story, I wonder how this guy got through the war like he did. But he did. And it's amazing. I don't think even I could have made it through without pulling my trigger once. That takes a whole lot of willpower, but also a lot of heart. Highly recommend, it pulls at your heartstrings like most other war films - only this one is a bit different.
