Nineteen years after the release of the original film, New Line Cinema is bringing a feature film adaptation of the Tony award-winning Broadway production Hairspray to life. Featuring new and original material based on John Waters' 1988 cult classic about star-struck teenagers on a local Baltimore dance show, the comedy features a remarkable collection of talent including John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, Allison Janney, Brittany Snow, Zac Efron, Elijah Kelley, Nikki Blonsky, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Chicago), and director Adam Shankman (Bringing Down The House). The new screenplay for Hairspray was written by Leslie Dixon (Freaky Friday, Outrageous Fortune). MPAA Rating: PG

Doesn't deserve to share the same name as the John Waters original. A worse cast, for one thing, is difficult to imagine.

I've loved John Waters since his early days and this is a great remake, although a little toned down.

I love this movie it's one of my favorite movies to watch I always used to watch it when I was 5 years old and I still do till this day... I love the songs and I love how John Travolta played Tracy's mom as Edna Turnblad he play the part really really well I just love this movie so much it just makes me want to dance
