Gaspard Ulliel effortlessly summons a boyish Hannibal Lecter and shows us where all this gruesome business began. The story is a slow roasted revenge flick which centers around Gaspard Ulliel's haunting and believable portrait of a young Dr. Lecter. Where Clarice Starling is absent, Lady Murasaki is there to temper Hannibal's bloodlust... My only gripe is that Hannibal doesn't talk enough in this film... Perhaps this is meant to show growth but his dialogue is often a part of what's great in these films.

It conveyed the story it was meant to tell, Hannibal Lecter's childhood and the events that shaped him. The action was dispersed in longer intervals than the rest of the series, but it wasnt a problem because when the action was presented, it was portrayed well. Especially liked the beginning with the attack from the Nazis. The story was told very well, although I was not in his shoes, I felt like the story was better from the 3rd person limited point of view. The final reason theovie was great is that Gaspard Ulliel played Hannibal Lecter very, very, very well. And that concludes my short review of Hannibal Rising.
