After being dumped by her boyfriend of six weeks, Marilyn Spalding goes to the Happy Yummy Chicken restaurant for a plate of fried chicken and never leaves. Auditions and rehearsals for the musical parallel Marilyn’s continued stay at the Happy Yummy Chicken, all leading to an unforgettable opening night performance where the worlds of the restaurant and the musical collide.
