Sam Wexler is not having a great day! Hungover and late for an important meeting with an editor at a major publishing house, Sam(Josh Radnor) watches helplessly as a young child gets separated from his family on the subway. Unable to locate the missing family, Sam takes the boy to his meeting (which surprise, surprise, doesnt go well!) and eventually, upon learning that hes just been placed in his seventh foster home, takes him back to his apartment. Then theres Sams best friends: Annie (Malin Ackerman), whos stricken with two ailments; an auto immune disorder which renders her hairless, and a taste in men who confirm her worst fears about herself, and Charlie (Pablo Schrieber) and Mary Catherine (Zoe Kazan), a loving couple who are arguing about whether to move from New York to Los Angeles (he wants to go, shed rather gouge her eyes out with a butter knife). And finally theres Mississippi Kate Mara), a singer who catches Sams eye, but fears he might be the latest in a long line of disastrous decisions shes made when it comes to romance.
