From legendary filmmaker Takashi Miike comes a classic tale of honour and revenge amidst the fall of the Samurai in 17th century Japan. Seeking a noble end, poverty-stricken Samurai Hanshirô requests to commit ritual suicide at the House of a Feudal Lord. But after being told the tragic story of another Samurai's suicide, that of Hanshirô's close friend Motome, Hanshirô sets out on a path of vengeance. A violent path that will lead to a bloody showdown with those responsible for his friend's brutal death. In Japanese with English subtitles.

Outstanding samurai film. Brutal and deeply affecting.
