この映画について

1849年アメリカ、メリーランド州。ブローダス農場の奴隷ミンティ(シンシア・エリヴォ)は、幼いころから過酷な労働を強いられていた。そんな彼女の願いはただ１つ、いつの日か自由の身となって家族と共に人間らしい生活を送ること。ある日、借金の返済に迫られた農場主がミンティを売りに出す。遠く離れた南部に売り飛ばされたら、もう二度と家族には会えず、お互いの消息すらわからなくなってしまう。脱走を決意したミンティは、奴隷制が廃止されたペンシルベニア州を目指してたった１人で旅立つのだった。

Was misled by all the 5* reviews. Given the historical context I thought the movie would be great, but the production was average and the 'god' drivel was painful to watch.

What powerful message, story and spiritual journey. I loved this. It is my new favourite movie of all time. I can not recommend it enough. The struggle and abuse was delicately portrayed in a manner that was powerful but accessible. The main character was played with passion and with depth. The story is engaging and educating. This had me biting me nails and hanging onto hope till the end. If you need a positive alternative try this movie. I found it inspirational.

What a woman, what a movie!! Gripping from start to finish. A truly awe inspiring lady to return time and time again in the face of absolute evil with no regard for her own life. A true historical hero.
