自從哈利遭遇黑魔王後，已經過了一個夏天，哈利回歸後卻發現魔法界依舊否認佛地魔歸來的事實；魔法部長認為鄧不利多校長在說謊；更派來了一位新的黑魔法防禦術老師。如今整個魔法社會岌岌可危，魔法的未來恐怕就要仰賴哈利波特與鳳凰會的密令。新來的教授桃樂絲恩不里居（伊美黛史道頓飾，代表作《魔法褓母麥克菲》、《天使薇拉卓克》）僅教授部長核准的防禦術課程，這卻讓年輕的魔法師們無力對抗威脅著他們和整個魔法界的黑暗勢力。妙麗（艾瑪華森）和榮恩（魯伯特葛林特）便催促哈利（丹尼爾雷德克里夫）採取行動。於是一小群學生秘密集會，並自稱「鄧不利多的軍隊」，他們由哈利負責教導，並學習如何防禦對抗黑魔法。

Movie Review: Defiantly one of the better Harry Potter movies (in the Top 3). It features some of the best action and acting, and the Dementor sequence, montage training scene and the entire Third Act are probaly some of the best Harry Potter scenes ever. Dolores Umbridge makes an insanely evil villian, and Gary Oldman and Michael Gambon are great in their limted screen time.

The nazi antagonist was pretty good, but the story was weaker than most of the others
