About this movie

IN CINEMAS NOW Hellboy is back, and he’s on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola’s seminal work, this action-packed story sees the legendary half-demon superhero (David Harbour) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal.

Being a Helboy fan oh how I wanted to like this film.. Take away Del Torros first 2 films, his attention to detail, tip top SFX and judge this as a completely new hero... Its dreadful, the script is all over the place, the side kicks a cat thing and a vision are awful, SFX(baby hellboy is just soooo badly done) are a joke and a finger up to the source material.. Hellboy himself lacks the charisma of Ron Pearlman and is just Hopper from stranger things painted red. Very, very disappointing

Massive disappointment, there's so many things here that don't work. They really did none of the characters justice in this film, everyone's unlikeable and full of attitude. Milla Jovovich and David Harbour are certainly the best thing about this film, they both give their best, but even them just can't win against lousy script and bad jokes. Be prepared for shoddy effects, boring supporting characters and gratuitous violence if you decide to watch.

It is just an OK film. For the love of all things holy, please leave your questioning mind behind. Some films require thought and some do not, this film sits in the latter of those two categories. Also, I must say the acting by two members of the cast was less than stellar in performance. Daniel Dae Kim is an American playing a British agent, whose stereotypical accent is beyond cringe inducing. Milla Jovovich's character is wooden and the acting is very poor, indeed. A wasted opportunity. 😩
