Sobre aquesta pel·lícula

Hellboy is back, and he's on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola's seminal work, this action-packed story sees the legendary half-demon (David Harbour) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.

Being a huge fan of the first two movies, I had really high hopes. Unfortunately the director of this film decided to focus more on gore and disturbing imagery rather than on an action packed movie with comic relief. I feel that if this movie had any less comic relief than they added, it would be similar to a "Saw" movie instead of the Hellboy style that we are all accustomed to. I wish I would have just rented it first before buying it, then I would at least feel like I didn't waste as much money.

I have seen the first two Hellboy films. Less than five minutes in and I’m thrown off. The story kind of zig zags and it is difficult to connect with any of the characters, realizations or connections are held back for suspense but it isn’t necessary because the impact is weak. The monsters and creatures are hideous, the special effects are really good. There is a huge variety of monsters and death scenes. Nearly every scene is splashed with blood. There are a couple of small surprises but overall I was disappointed.

It makes you wish Del Torro didn't screwed out of his hellboy trilogy. Harbour does a passable job with the given script, but his delivery often devolves into screaming his lines. While on the topic of the script, its blatant over use of swear words to warrant the R rating gives the impression of high school "edgy" kids got together to write this movie. There is effort to establish hellboy as a veteran paranormal investigator, but the mannor in which it was done interrupts the movie
