Hellboy is back, and he's on fire. From the pages of Mike Mignola's seminal work, this action-packed story sees the legendary half-demon (David Harbour) called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.

It makes you wish Del Torro didn't screwed out of his hellboy trilogy. Harbour does a passable job with the given script, but his delivery often devolves into screaming his lines. While on the topic of the script, its blatant over use of swear words to warrant the R rating gives the impression of high school "edgy" kids got together to write this movie. There is effort to establish hellboy as a veteran paranormal investigator, but the mannor in which it was done interrupts the movie

As a stand alone story in the chronicles of the "Hellboy" Series; I liked it; although, frankly, I wasn't expecting to like it. Being a fan of the first and second films with Ron Pearlman; making the role his own and of course, the late, great John Hurt as Professor Broom; it was a hard act to follow. But view it as a separate story in the sense of. "The Further Adventures of Hellboy"; and you'll probably like it as well. David Harbor does a fine job in the lead role as does the rest of the cast and the production is State of the Art. Grandiose storytelling that is at times, over the top with accompanying Special FX , but a fun cinematic adventure ride all the same..I say, Worth the rental.

This movie is ugly. There is no ther word for it. The plot is "decent", and I use the term loosely. It feels like it is trying to be two diferent movies at once with the "Hellboy wants to fit in" and "Hellboy is hated for being a monster" side plots. This movie has the same problem as The Amazing Spider-Man and Catwoman, bad director. No amount of acting could save it, and my only hope is that they get another director for the sequal
