Par šo filmu

Holy Rollers follows the rise of the Church Team, arguably the largest and most well funded blackjack team in America. No one expected a group of Christians to be in the business of card-counting. In their short existence, they take millions from casinos. In spite of the team's phenomenal success, many team members deal with the personal conflict of how to be a Christian and count cards for a living. Then the team's winnings decrease drastically and questions start being raised as to whether someone might be stealing. Is it possible? Of course. But do they trust their teammates? Absolutely. Maybe.

No such thing as a hypocritical Christian... they are simply using the title for clout. 1 John 2:4 The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; Obviously they don't know what a Christian is.

This documentary paints many pictures; one of faithful curiosity, one of friendship and trust, one of selfish greed and ruin. It is easy to point the finger at the villainry of gambling as a vice, sin, and illegal form of income. It is, however, presumptuous, assumptive, and because of those... foolish. Passion does not create truth from lies. Christians have faith in a Christ who claims to be the truth, as such, Christians should pursue truth over the immediate passions of their hearts. The greatest lies are the ones that replace words with words of similar meaning but altering impact. "Didn't God say you would die if you -touched- the fruit?" Blackjack is this kind of word in this documentary. It is not playing the game of blackjack that Card Counters do, if so, the true villain (whether you like the title or not, casinos, you have earned it) would never kick a Card Counter out of their games. True, it is not enough that the wrong say it is wrong to make it right. I'm not here to make that claim for you. You have your own faiths and your own beliefs; take them with you on your short journey through the interactions and lives of these people.

If you rate this film (or prejudge it) based on your moral feelings on the topic you are an idiot. This is a well made and balanced film. If you hate gambling and don't think Christians should be involved with it, this film is for you. If you love gambling and wish Christians would lighten up about it, this film is for you. If you are interested in the subject of card counting and want to see how it works...you get the idea. Give it a watch!
