Loved the first one so much and was stoked when I heard DreamWorks was going to make a sequel. To my dismay however, I was let down. Since the beginnng, the movie felt boring and didn't show the same spark as it's prequel did. All the elements that made the first one a blast felt like they were missing here. 2 stars.

I'm sorry, but this film simply makes me really angry. They butchered the first one, and now - this. Since when did they improve children's books by chopping off the main character's leg and killing off his father?! The toothless I know from the books is sarcastic and lazy and funny; this one is like an ignorant puppy! Please read the book...

The first one is better and it makes me sad. Without spoiler alerts: The first movie focused on the battle of winning friendships, confidence, and trust and made you care about characters. This movie tried to pull on heart strings with parental drama but it failed to make anyone, me or my family, care about the characters, especially the parents. The cast was older, more mature which also lessened the impact of the family drama, plus there was less toothless action as a whole = crime!!
