In his famously confessional style, Ginsberg recounts the road trips, love affairs, and search for personal liberation that led to his most timeless and electrifying work: the poem 'Howl'. But Ginsberg’s erotic, explicit, autobiographical poem was not so well received in other quarters; soon 'Howl' itself was on trial for obscenity. A stellar cast including Jon Hamm, David Strathairn and Mary Louise Parker recreate the tense courtroom battle between America’s cherished right to Freedom of Speech and the social mores of the 1950s.
