About this movie

"At first, I didn't expect they would target me"—Chut Wutty is a quiet, charismatic environmental activist. He is coordinating a network of protestors in Prey Lang forest, Cambodia, where rubber companies illegally cut down resin trees that the local population depends on. But when the military arrive, Wutty is thrown to the ground at gun point. Immediately the network rushes to his aid. Wutty is shaken but keeps going, determined to stop the destruction. Five months later, Wutty sets out on an investigation in the Cardamom Mountains. At a secret military-controlled logging site, he is stopped and shot dead.
Featuring exclusive footage of Wutty in the months leading up to his death, interviews with activists and family members as well as those benefiting from deforestation, I Am Chut Wutty exposes the fierce battle against illegal logging.
