It would have been better if they changed all the names and didn't put Asimov's name on it. On its own, it's a decent, smart Wool Smith action movie from that era, but judged as an adaptation, this is terrible. I really hope Will Smith produces a real adaptation (maybe a TV series) as penance for this. This story deserves a proper adaptation.

Once again Alex Proyas gives us a fantastic Sci-Fi noir romp through one of Isaac Asimov's best stories. It deviates from the short story much, which is okay because it's really the fundamentals of what the Asimov was trying to say that is ever-present in this film: the laws of robotics. Proyas sets a great tone with the film, gladly ramps up the visual effects to any use of them he can, and Smith gives what could be his most understated performance in an action movie yet (which only lends more credibility to the quality of the film itself).

I remember loving this movie as a kid. Rewatched it and damn the movie sucks. The main character is literally an unlikable idiot (good job casting will, he fit perfectly). Also his whole back story doesn't make sense. He hates robots because a girl he didn't really know died because a robot chose to save him instead of her... she had a lower chance at living. What does that tell you? He is an ungrateful baby lmao.
