Cary Grant and Carole Lombard star in the heart-wrenching romantic drama of a young widow, the man she loves selflessly and the woman who is his wife In Name Only. Julie Eden (Lombard) meets and falls in love with unhappily married Alec Walker (Grant). Alec's wife, Maida (Kay Francis), connived to wed Alec solely for his money--and has since convinced Alec's family and friends that he is a heartless philanderer. But when Alec falls ill and lies close to death, Julie pleads with Maida, vowing that she will give up the man she loves if only Maida will promise to make Alec happy. Based on the novel Memory of Love by Bessie Breuer.
