Fargo and Death Wish meet in this razor-sharp, darkly comic Scandi-Noir thriller. Introverted and hard-working snowplough driver Nils (Stellan Skarsgard) has just been named Citizen of The Year, when he receives news that his son has died of a heroin overdose. Disbelieving the official report, Nils uncovers evidence of his son's murder — an innocent victim of local crime boss, "The Count". Armed with heavy machinery and a good dose of beginner's luck, Nils embarks upon a quest for revenge that inadvertently ignites a full-blown underworld gang war, with the body count spiralling ever higher and higher. An intriguing storyline of an unlikely small town citizen acting as the catalyst for a long trail of violence and death. It is nicely filmed and perhaps wrongly, makes me think of it as a kind of Norwegian 'Fargo' if you are familiar with Coen brothers film. Scenes are often presented in an understated way, belying the acts of violence occurring in the story. An enjoyable watch.

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I was going to. The acting is great, and the film is a great juxtaposition of dark and violent scenes mixed with light hearted and heart warming moments.
