Officially, I'm rating "Incredibles 2" at 3 stars out of 5. But, I'd really like to bump that down a half a star to a mere 2-1/2 stars out of 5. The problem is that even though the movie is technically well made (graphics, sound, and voice acting), the story is painfully obvious from almost the very beginning. If you watch this thing, you'll know that point when you roll your eyes and start yelling at the screen that the evil-doer is so and so and the plan is such and such. Ridiculous. It tells you how poor the story is when I say that the best parts of the movie are the side bits involving the baby, Jack Jack. Which, by the way, brings up another problem. At the end of the first movie, everyone is made very aware that Jack Jack has super powers (the destruction of their house, which is specifically mentioned in this movie, is a direct result of their being made aware of his powers). Yet, much of the Jack Jack stuff in this movie is predicated on no one having any idea that the baby has any powers whatsoever. That kind of revisionism is right in there with Dr. Ian Malcolm being resurrected from the dead between the first and second "Jurassic Park" books. A shame.

I didn't like the first one and Jack Jack is a demon baby. It's not funny and when it isn't showing the demon baby it's very boring. Jack Jack is a babyish rip off of the Hellboy design. I would have fell asleep from boredom if it wasn't for all the kids crying and wanting to walk out. Also the Jack Jack demon is yet another reason to avoid this because the over powered baby thing has been overdone since the Flintstones cartoons with Bam-Bam being super powerful and all those other old cartoons that use a really strong baby. I'm tired of old tropes being shoved at movie goers. Come up with something original for once Pixar and prove that Disney hasn't died.

Considering it's been 14 years since the original there's not much here to watch. Think about it, the plot is almost the exact same as the original. Instead of picking up exactly where the first left off they could have gone further ahead it time. This would have allowed some character growth for all the Incredible family. I do think the animation and action sequences are on point. The voice acting is still awesome. I just think Pixar can put out a better movie. Still a solid rental.
