Catherine Deneuve earned an Oscar(r) nomination for this Academy Award(r)-winning (Best Foreign Language Film, 1992) tale of passion and revolution in colonial Vietnam. Deneuve stars as Elaine Devries, the seemingly repressed owner of a prosperous rubber plantation in French Indochina. Vincent Perez was Christian in movie Cyrano and was described as a handsome devil. Looking at him, now I understand what a handsome devil looks like.

saw this when I was little... not sure why but I can't forget it and it was one of those movies that I feel in love with.
