For this viewer, Ingrid Goes West is a great character study. Aubrey Plaza gives a brilliant performance as Ingrid. A young woman who believes becoming someone close to who your love object (for her, female acquaintances) is, guarantees acceptance, loyalty. Elizabeth Olsen gives an excellent performance as an object of Ingrid's adulation. O'Shea Jackson Jr is excellent as a man Ingrid unknowingly involves in her obsessive quest for Ms. Olsen's character attention, validation. One of 2017's great movies. Highly recommended.

First things first: this movie isn't a comedy. At least, it's not a comedy unless you find the blackness of the nihilistic void truly, unnervingly hilarious. I, for one, do not. This movie is perhaps an interesting (albeit disturbing) commentary on the blossoming of app-fueled obsessive narcism in our society. But even if taken for what it is, this movie drags you into an anxious, obsessive, manic-depressive hole of shame and repugnance, which makes the "comedy" label all the more ill-fitting.

Aubrey is turning into this magnificent phenomenon of an actor. She seems to pick the most interesting rolls to play. This movie is one of the reasons she will go down in history as one of the greatest to ever grace our screens. Not too many movies have great plots with perfect endings. Not to mention a character that can pull off crazy yet relatable at the same time the way she does. Great casting, great story line with a twist of an ending. A must see.
