What every Slenderman Fan wants. This film catalogues the most predatory element to humans, something that we ourselves used to hunt our own prey thousands of years past and still in some tribal communities today, embodied in the entity of this film. I didn’t quite get the music and some of the references but this is great science fiction viewing and it really does throw down the moral gauntlet in our most basic of urges. It’s a great scare and a brilliant thought provoking idea.

One of the tropes of the horror genre is the 'slow chase' scene. Zombie's shamble slowly, Michael Myers walks at a steady pace, the Blob oozes etc etc. The victim slips or falls allowing the ever approaching menace to close the gap. Now imagine a film made solely of that scene, and you've got It Follows. That's no bad thing.

For once, a genuinely frightening modern day horror movie with a terrifying monster. Expect lots of satisfying scares that don't resort to those old 'loud noise/jumping faces out the dark' cliches. Instead, the monster in It Follows remains an unknowable, seen force of darkness. A great movie for a Samhein/Halloween night in.
