"Jimmy Carter, Rock & Roll President," accurately captures the history of the period, its politics an d its music. As a Baby Boomer born in 1958, I especially recommend this movie to young people who were not alive during this period. The turmoil we experienced during the Watergate scandal was as profound then, as the pain we lived out during the Trump era. Watching this movie presents our 39th president in a light which rarely shines on the truth of his legacy . He spoke then, the 1970s, about peace and equality. How poignant is the footage of the KKK protesters at his rallies as we strive now to heal from our collective injury by white supremacists here in the 21st century. Casting that first presidential vote of my lifetime for a working man of the people seemed like a revolutionary act back in 1976. The footage in this film reveals how revolutionary he was and continues to be with his commitment to love and to peace. As young people, especially, watch this film, my hope is that the information presented here will help them to understand the true legacy of this remarkable man. The film also points out that he lived his Christian faith by striving for equality and justice and making sure that no bullets nor missiles flew and that no bombs were dropped by the US during his administration. Contrast this with a man who tear gassed peaceful protesters so he could stand in front of a church and hold a Bible for a photo op. What a treat to see all the wonderful musicians, living and dead, who celebrated, supported and elevated this great statesman. Ultimately, the movie beautifully makes the point that art does help change and heal the world. It influences us to make change and Jimmy Carter celebrates and champions the idea in this wonderful doc. Rebecca Suzanne
