As head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for nearly 50 years, he would stop at nothing to protect his country. I don't care for the present tense/past tense jumps, but they worked. I thought the story did a great job of capturing his personal love life without being critical of it. j Edgar was such a controversial and often hated figure in American history that any story about him was bound to be riddle criticiszim. good Job

Some of this movie was interesting (the first half) but it takes a very misplaced and weird turn to focus on his romance with another man......which really took away from the movie. If they would have focused more on his cases I probably would have been able to watch it through without being bored to death

I'm sure mny people who gave it a low rating expected an exciting action-packed movie. Truth is, it's just a well-researched nartative of J.Edgar Hoover's life. The performance was remarkable and well put-together. As far as the homosexuality gies, it was very subtle, and in no way detracted from the story. Amazing acting, good storytelling, and awesome directing, if I could give this movie more stars, I would.
