As an adult who's on the autistic spectrum and who has been a caregiver for a younger sister on the spectrum, I was disturbed by some of the messages about autism in this film. Jack handles Glory in a way that would be considered child abuse if it was done to a non-disabled child, but in this movie, she looks like a hero doing it. This displays the sub-human status of disabled people in our culture. Yes, sure, you can argue it was for Glory's good, she ended up being able to eat with a spoon. But in real life, most autistic children if handled that way would go into a full on meltdown, from which they would learn nothing. People who had ABA therapy as children often remember the punishments as terrible, almost traumatic memories. I suppose this is why many consider it a cruel treatment that should be banned. Anyway, this film makes it look normal. Just to prove I'm not a chronic complainer who can't say anything positive; I was impressed at how they portrayed Glory's way of showing emotions including empathy. How they showed some beautiful moments she had with her family. They show some respect for the autistic as human. That's the only good thing I can say about this film.

Excellent cast. The actress who played the autistic girl was fantastic.

Loved the movie but wish the ending shows what happens in the end
