A loving character study of Elmore Leonard's novel Rum Punch that's easily Quentin Tarantino's most mature and sophisticated movie to date. Pam Grier is perfectly cast and invests Jackie Brown with wisdom, strength and vulnerablity. Yet it's the underrated Robert Forster who puts in a soulful, career best performance as humble bail bondsman Max Cherry, his love and admiration for Jackie is subtly shown in his eyes and mannerisms. I've always felt this film is a bit too long but remains superb.

Cast are great, but the film is boring. The pace is slow, it just felt off, I can't put a handle on it. Worth a rent for the cast.

It was good, but in ranking of Tarantino movies, this is the second lowest movie. It was a good story, and some of the characters were good, especially Max Cherry.
