As someone who, knows the general beats of Christ's story, never heard the songs, and never seen this performance (or the 1970's movie) this stage performances was an interesting watch. Basically this musical is about Christs' and Judas' arch from their falling apart to Christs' execution (FYI, no resurrection). It has a 1990-2000 spin on it (basically outfits, environments, music, and social commentary), but the storyline is the same. It's fine and some performances are great (Mary & Judas).

Sporty Spice (Mel C) playing Mary Magdalene is by far the standout performer of the entire cast! She hit every note perfectly and you can feel and witness all of the complex emotions she put forth during this performance! She was always the strongest singer in the Spice Girls.

An incredible production with great staging and lighting. The talent is unbelievable with the leads really standing out. This is my new favorite version surpassing the original film. I highly recommend!
