About this movie

The locals call him Cousin Joe Twoshacks.

A trout stream runs through the northern Michigan cedar forest where Cousin Joe lives in two dilapidated cabins.

If he hears you he will stop playing, but silently canoe this river

and you might be lucky enough to hear his songs.

The creator of this whole project is a “down-stater”, a fly fisherman who was lucky enough to remain undetected long enough to become completely enamored with what he was hearing. He believed that for historical purposes this man and his songs needed to be recorded.

It took the fly fisherman six years and a lot of beer, smokes and whiskey to gain this man’s trust. Cousin Joe, believing that a camera would steal his soul, refused to appear on film. By fate or divine providence it just so happened that the fly fisherman was an animator with many animator friends.

The project: Cousin Joe Twoshacks debut album “Rocks and Toads”

One old independent singer songwriter, 12 independent animators, No rules.

Featuring: Bill Plympton, Signe Baumane, Joe Cartoon, Lindsay and Alex Small-Butera, Oliver age 24, John Paine, KEV, Mike Storey , Dan Rose, Don Greger Jr., Tom Hinchliffe, Kyle Stein.
