You can tell a lot about an era from the movies that come along. That's basic screen studies stuff. So what do we make of an era that puts out stuff like this? There is something deeply troubled in the western psyche. And no one can come out and name "it" because they're not terribly sure what "it" is. It is a lot of things. And so, we have John. All in all, he just wants to know what it's like to be an adult. Erm... Buggered if I know what it all means, but it's a splendidly baffling film. And as I said, we live in an age without solid conclusions, and a lot of strange stuff going on in our heads. Well acted, crisply filmed in a constrained ratio,, and a haunting soundtrack. Just the movie for the era of Joe Biden.
