About this movie

John Leguizamo's award-winning HBO stand-up performance is a semi-autobiographical story about his life growing up and his journey to try to be accepted by his father. Directed by Spike Lee, and shot before a live audience at New York's Cort Theatre, John hilariously takes on every racial and ethnic stereotype. Alternately funny, raunchy and poignant, Freak spotlights Leguizamo's gift of storytelling as he effortlessly slips in and out of a wide range of characters from his dysfunctional childhood in Queens, New York.

John Leguizamo at his finest!!! I watched this as it first premiere on HBO back in 1998. I liked the Original "uncut" version better. The original music and songs that were played, but I understated the stup*d copyright laws. Is just that I think the original music and songs on the original version, did created a much better atmosphere to this play. Regardless, I believe this still is a master piece on its own. Great work on one of the funniest plays I have ever seen!!

A masterpiece in comedy. Too bad it doesn't have the original music and some parts were edited and cut.The "por tu maldito amor " joke looses the punchline. Gonna dig the original VHS out of the garage.
