Joker sets out to try to prove it has big ideas, but ultimately falls short. The world feels like a setup specifically to create the Joker, and ends up with a sad version of the character in a universe where batman would never exist. On top of that, it's uncomfortable to watch, the repetitive violin reminds me of a laugh track, and the entire movie feels more like the director whining about not being able to make comedy movies anymore. Strongly recommend skipping this one.

I thought I'd have a lot more to say about this movie, but I really don't. Joaquin's performance is great, and Todd Phillips' direction was surprisingly on point for this character study film. Outside of that all I can really say is that's it's ok, I think the people that LOVE this movie are people that have never seen something like Taxi Driver before. Still though, worth watching at least once and is a step in the right direction for DC films. More of these and less Suicide Squads please.
