Based on Jules Verne's nineteenth century novel of the same name, the film is a standout adventure saga and is considered one of the most entertaining adaptations in the science fiction genre.  The film follows a Scottish professor, Oliver Lindenbrook, who accidentally discovers a map of sorts with directions on how to reach the center of the Earth through an Icelandic crater.  When the professor looks to a colleague to verify his discovery, the colleague becomes a rival and the two engage in a race to see who will reach the center of the Earth first.  The Lindenbrook Expedition finds a vast world underneath the surface of the Earth, including a lost city, a giant mushroom forest, and a huge underground ocean.  The team is also confronted by dangerous prehistoric monsters as well as the rival expedition.

Good to watch, NO screeming, bad language or excessive flesh exposure, a movie as they should be .... Entertaining.

For its time its quite amazing and compared to the new version, this movie is fantastic!
