Nora Ephron adapts Julie Powell's autobiographical book Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen with this Columbia Pictures production starring Amy Adams as an amateur chef who decides to cook every recipe in a cookbook from acclaimed celebrity chef Julia Child (played by Meryl Streep) in order to chronicle it in a blog over the course of a year. Streep's Devil Wears Prada co-star Stanley Tucci re-teams with the actress as Child's husband.

An entertaining, well-made movie with depth, authenticity and vivre. You'll be hard-pressed to find a comparable choice to watch tonight. The cinematography and setting is reason to watch by itself, and Julie's story was surprisingly excellent, as of course was Julia's. We're blessed with two excellent title leads, supported by a wonderful cast. Thank you Nora for a masterpiece. (It's great that it wasn't snipped to death to make it short.) A beautifully developed, and presented, story and film.

This might be a "girl's movie," but it's not a chick-flick. This is a story about two women's lives; it's not about two women's relationships (or their relationship problems). That in itself was very refreshing. It's a thoroughly enjoyable comedy whose main characters just happen to be women. And speaking of, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams both transformed entirely into their characters. Usually the best actors and actresses will remind me of their other performances, but in this case I honestly felt I was watching the real Julia Child. This is a really good movie, and if you're considering watching it, just go ahead and press play already!

Not only is this based upon both lives but its also truly inspirational. The Beef Bourbon recipe SEVERELY makes me want to make it as it looks soooooooo delicious it should be a sin. This is a MUST see and own.
