A coal mining accident in a small American town leaves the community in shock and disarray. The wife (Diana) and son (JT) of the wealthy mining executive responsible for the accident each find their own way to deal with their guilt and sorrow: Diana starts an affair with the lone survivor of the mining accident, whilst JT becomes involved with the disappearance of a local boy. Both temporary solutions have devastating consequences…
