Brainless and empty, Kangaroo Jack is unsure of what it's target audience is, and not only that there is no comedy, it also has characters that have nothing to add, and has a story that is relatively pointless. The acting went from mediocre to horrible, sometimes the acting can go from realistic to cringe-worthy and flat, but the lines (the dialogue) came first before the acting and 50% of the dialogue is so stupid and disposable. David McNally directed this film and his direction is just plain, there is nothing to it. none of his direction is very well executed. Davis McNally has directed three movies that received negative reviews and they are rated PG-13. He decided to make a family film (a PG rated movie), but just because that kangaroo jack is a comedy, has animals (like kangaroos), and it's rated PG does not mean that it's child friendly or good natured; this film contains aggressive violence, foul language that was used sometimes, and sexual innuendo, which gives us a reminder that for a PG rated movie that has this type of content, shows us that this film is suitable for kids age 12 and up. just like the movie as a whole, the humor is very dumb, I have laughed at nothing at all what so ever. The characterizations are poorly made, the friendship between Charlie and Louis is something that we have seen a handful of times before, these two characters think they do know about animals, kind of, but most of the time, they don't. There are very minimal animal facts that are true but most of them are not. Humans in general are gullible, so when the false information about animals was said by the characters, the audience will believe that the information was true. There are other characters that are forgettable and empty and not to mention most of the dialogue is forgettable because of the fact that the screenplay and passages are rushed a little bit. The budget for this film is almost as high as the budget for the movie "Battlefield Earth," so the CGI effects for the red kangaroo named "Jackie Legs" went from decent to fake and unconvincing, it definitely needs some improvement. How about the editing? The filmmakers used the same footage and put it in some places for a reason, but they've got to make sure that the same footages from different scenes are used for the right scenes, which makes the editing lazy and sometimes it does comes across as not very clever. Not even the music score by Trevor Rabin is good, the music has the same theme melody tunes over and over again. I don't mind that movies don't always have orchestras, which is interesting, but this music score comes out as simplistic, repetitive, and even unoriginal. Kangaroo Jack has knocked my sensibilities unconscious and it also made me slightly dumber a teensy tiny bit. Not recommended at all costs.

It's not the greatest movie ever. The jokes are somewhat funny, even though some are tasteless and crude, and the action sequences are staged well for a PG film. The acting is decent (aside from Estella Warren, who can flat out not act), with the exception of Christopher Walken as a Brooklyn mobster. He is the actor in the movie that makes it all worth watching. Him, and Michael Shannon, who proves his acting chops as the son of a gangster. Overall, it's a good movie to watch once or twice or as a family.

Just a goofy, non-stop laughfest from about 5 minutes in until the end. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen before.
