KID CANNABIS is the true story of an Idaho teen dropout who builds a multimillion-dollar marijuana ring by trafficking drugs through the woods across the Canadian border. But his pursuit of the high life - complete with girls, guns, and vicious rival drug lords - may leave this ex-pizza boy in way over his head.

A very different take on the marijuana industry than the film Savages, with a similar outcome. The dynamics of power-control, corruption, and societal incompatibility of politically motivated criminal activity makes this film closer in nature to Casino Jack. Not a Rasta film in any case, and like Savages the portrayal of the American cannabis user as inextricable from other criminal elements in the United States is an overwhelmingly dishonest part of this film. The parts of the film set in Canada are refreshing, comedic, and genuine, nonetheless; the film was certainly worth watching. Filming politically motivated crime is difficult and not a new challenge for directors. From Batman to Zorro, cinema has historically had a particular penchant for the portrayal of "spectrum-morality". Unlike film noir, with a classic "bad guy", these are films that explore the tangent relationship of the hero with a corrupting influence. The reason this film was workable in nature lies in the motivation of the "kid cannabis", who seeks to make a fortune. There are some complications with summarizing the nature of the film as such, but there is no reason to give the whole film away in a review.

Based on a true story. If you liked "Blow" with Johnny Depp, you will like this movie.
