Just Visiting
He was a victim in many other senses. This film shows that the media went after one of their own when they questioned his ethics instead of using his work to pursue the truth themselves; his employer, supportive at first, rapidly caved in to fear and threw him under the bus. But, apart from this,"Kill the Messenger" goes a bit fast in covering the pressure and tactics that were used to destroy his career and his family. We are left with the impression that Gary Webb was a somewhat unsophisticated journalist who had no idea of what he was getting into and who succumbed easily to the first application of pressure. In the end, though, the film does provide clear information as to how everything ended, and it's not encouraging.
