Информация о фильме

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

I could handle the bastardisation of the Arthurian legend right up until his nemesis was in the form of some sort of comic book bad guy. Dreadful. Not as bad as 300, but in that league. Read Malory, or Marion Zimmer Bradley for a feminist take on the legend, instead. That said, it feels like I've been waiting forever for Richie's next Sherlock Holmes film. Get a move on.

I think Warners were hoping to replicate the success of their Sherlock Holmes films by bringing Guy Richie into direct this reboot of what I'm assuming was going to be a series of films. It may have looked good on paper but unfortunately having characters that could've been in Snatch doesn't work in the time of King Arthur.

This started off promising in the first 30 minutes. Then it went downhill. I was on the fence in watching this for a long time due to poor word of mouth but figured it was time to give it a go. I knew it was going to change a lot in the legend of King Arthur but the use of language and slang really broke it for me. It worked for Guy in the Sherlock films because of the London setting and the fact that they did use cockney then. But in what is pretty much medieval England eeehh not so much.
