An emotional powerhouse about a king, who, upset with his sons, sets off a rivalry between his three daughters for his kingdom. The eldest two try to out do each other with their gratuitous praise and simulated fauning affection; however the third daughter refuses to be part of their insincerity. The king filled with his pumped up ego, interprets her actions as disloyal and most unrespectful and sets her aside. He soon learns his error, but before he can correct it, a battle ensues between the two factions of the family, killing all his daughters and leaving him to die of a broken heart. © 1970 Orion Pictures Corporation.
