About this movie

The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the sacred Crystal, and the menacing empire of Niflheim is determined to steal it. King Regis of Lucis (Sean Bean) commands an elite force of soldiers called the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king’s magic, Nyx (Aaron Paul) and his fellow soldiers fight to protect Lucis. As the overwhelming military might of the empire bears down, King Regis is faced with an impossible ultimatum – to marry his son, Prince Noctis to Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae (Lena Headey), captive of Niflheim, and surrender his lands to the empire’s rule. Although the king concedes, it becomes clear that the empire will stop at nothing to achieve their devious goals, with only the Kingsglaive standing between them and world domination.

This movie isn't as bad as the critics say but it's also not as good as users say. I personally thought the story jumped around quite a bit but by the end everything came together. To me it felt like I paid to see a two-hour advertisement for Final Fantasy XV. Because of that I was hoping to go into the world mythology more but they focused on some characters which I believe will have involvement in the game. I gave this three stars instead of two because of the amazing visuals. The characters are very believable and the people look realistic. The environment has a very cool sci-fi/modern feel to it.

I have to admit the music and the art of the movie is exceptional hence the 2 stars but the story and characters were straight up awful. Sure Nyx was your ideal hero type but everyone else just annoyed me. The enemies were near invincible. The pacing was choppy. It wouldn't hurt anyone if they just included a small intro paragraph of something to explain the character relationships instead of shoving random scenes that seem important. And there were a lot of 'what was the point of this' moments.

PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS THING. Ok. Now to be fair, this movie is top-notch in terms of the animation but THE STORY IS CRAP! I found myself almost wanting to pull my hair out at how stupid certain points in the plot are. I mean some parts just don't add up. There are too many plot holes it's just stupid. Go ahead and spend your money if you don't believe me but please, at least just rent it on SD. Watch it and tell me if I'm wrong.
