Kursk is inspired by the unforgettable true story of the K-141 Kursk, a Russian flagship nuclear-powered submarine that sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea in August 2000. As 23 sailors fought for survival aboard the disabled sub, their families desperately battled bureaucratic obstacles and impossible odds to find answers and save them.

Ratings and reviews

A superb film, but in saying so it is important to qualify it's success is not simply in the combination of all the elements which combine to make a fine film. The power of this is in the story and its inherent tragedy; and it takes all those elements to come together so as to successfully convey that tragedy.

Sad and well put together. More a drama than action.
