I don't like musicals. There's a couple I can enjoy like the rocky horror picture Show, but generally I find them exhausting. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed La La Land. Minus the very beginning which felt very musical. After a brief sequence in the very start of the film the director seemed intent on destroying convention of what a musical is. The songs that are included aren't great but my god the cinematography and characters/actors are just superb. It's a beautiful movie to look at. The storyline is very musical in design but it's delivery is so good you don't mind. It's just a good movie. I don't know if it would have been as good if they had gone with stronger singers instead of strong actors though.

While I enjoy most musicals, this movie was strange, slow, and uninteresting from the get go. I wondered several times if the writer had been using drugs while writing this script. So not worth the time wasted viewing this film. I will say, I did enjoy some of the music in the film, but for a musical there wasn't as much as we typically see in films.

I don't know why this got such good reviews! it's just a romantic comedy which usually suck and this did like all others did! I wouldn't buy this at all with its mediocre comedy half-decent romance and everything in itself! Just bad! There's only a few scenes that were actually good and that's saying something cuz most of them are stale, plain and bad.
