One night, Princess Irene becomes lost in the woods and is attacked by goblins. Luckily, a young miner boy, Curdie, finds her and rescues her. Safely home at her father's castle, she discovers that she has magical powers— that take the form of her great-great grandmother. Meanwhile, Curdie overhears the goblins plotting to overtake the "Sun People." Now it is up to the magic of Princess Irene, her great-great grandmother, and Curdie's mining skills to save the Kingdom.
