About this movie

Rex (Michael Caton) is a loner, who when he's told he doesn't have long to live, embarks on an epic drive from Broken Hill to Darwin to die on his own terms. His journey reveals to him that before you can end your life, you have to live it, and to live it, you've got to share it. Filled with hope, humour and heart, LAST CAB TO DARWIN is set against the stunning Australian outback.

Characters are generally deplorable making it difficult to care about what happens to them. The film noticeably dances around the big 'S' word and generally comes off as shallow when addressing the issue of Euthanasia. It was also a major annoyance to see the thick coating of average Joe Australian acting mixed with the pretentious indie soundtrack and overly 'artful' cinematography

Surprisingly enjoyable. Although it can be a bit on the nose due to its constant efforts to be utterly 'Australian', there are some really great performances, provoking some strong emotions and laughs.

Awesome cinematography, paired with protagonist Rex's three month life expectancy working as a constant and balanced device that moves the plot along yet never feels exploitative or overt.
