In a career-defining performance, Alain Delon plays a contract killer with samurai instincts. A razor-sharp cocktail of 1940s American gangster cinema and 1960s French pop culture—with a liberal dose of Japanese lone-warrior mythology—maverick director Jean-Pierre Melville’s masterpiece Le Samouraï defines cool.

A silly movie. The French don't do hard boiled very well. If you want a french thriller, watch "Day of the Jackal". If you want a street samurai movie, watch "Ghost Dog." This one tries to be both, and winds up being neither.

Truly a classic! Alain Delon is the epitome of cool. Wonderful direction by Melville. A must-see.

No nonsense beautiful simplicity. Everything you need, nothing you don't.
