In Texas, years before the events of the Texas Chain Saw Massacre, in the early days of the infamous Sawyer family, the youngest child is sentenced to a mental hospital after a suspicious incident leaves the sheriffs’ daughter dead. Ten years later, he kidnaps a young nurse and escapes with 3 other inmates. Pursued by authorities including the deranged sheriff out to avenge his daughter’s death, the young Sawyer teen goes on a violent road trip from hell, molding him into the monster known now as Leatherface.

Please don't rent this. It's terrible for a Texas Chainsaw franchise movie. As for just a regular movie then it's not the worst thing out there so that is the only reason I gave it two stars. The guy who is Leatherface is ridiculous. No way that is Leatherface. Bad. The whole rotting corpse thing is not graphic or twisted at all. You barely see them touch the corpse and for today's horror audience the sex scene was a very poor attempt at some shock value. A lot of the things they do in this movie just seem mashed together. It's things that you feel like would never happen even for the characters portrayed. I am a very good judge of movies and look at everything from all points of view. So I give all types of movies a fair chance but don't rent this and expect a "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" experience. Very little substance in this movie.

Who keeps financing these "chainsaw" spin offs and movies?? Toby hooper is rolling in his grave at the garbage that has come out of his original horror masterpiece. This like all the others is cold garbage, nothing to like, not even charming schlock. Just bad I gave it one star because the person who typed the actors names deserves it, and the poor crew that showed up for this also.

It's not as good as I was expecting, I mean I wasn't expecting anything exhilarating or anything I just thought it would be better than it was. I hate who Leatherface turned out to be...that made no sense to me and completey took away the Texas Chainsaw factor. It just didn't feel like a Texas Chainsaw movie to me. I actually prefer the 2013 film more. This one falls to the bottom of the TCM list for me.
